DIY No-Sew Fabric Kindle Cover

So my grandma got a Kindle a while back and she asked me to set it up for her. I did so but while I did that I also downloaded 50 Shades of Grey the trilogy, The Hunger Games Trilogy, Jenny Lawson's, Let's Pretend This Never Happened. I read them all in less than three weeks. I had borrowed her kindle for almost a month and I knew I had to return. Finally, I handed it over. I was sad like a whole new world just opened up and I missed it. Sounds so silly, right? Well I just couldn't wait anymore I bought myself one! The first book I downloaded was The Perks of Being a Wildflower, which I haven't even read yet. I have been carrying this kindle with me everywhere hoping for a few moments to start. I was worried about carrying it in my purse and getting scratched, so I decided to make a cover. I had picked up some fabric from a local whole seller on Harwin. I honestly didn't even measure the fabric. I just cut out a large square enough to wrap the kindle twice like wrapping a present. I had plenty of hot glue and I cut the flaps of a cardboard box to make it a bit sturdier. Below are the pictures on how I did it. It's not perfect by any means but I did make it in less than twenty minutes and it fits perfect.

Supplies:
Scissors
Hot Glue
Fabric
Button
Hair Band

Like I said I know it is not perfect but it is perfect for me right now and it was way less expensive than  buying a cover. I am sure this method could work for any notebook or e-reader. I really want to find an anchor charm to add to this but I can not find one anywhere, can you help?

Can I have a do over?

So it has been almost seven months since my last post. I am so ashamed. I have actually taking so many pictures in the last seven months and created and made some awesome new things. I honestly have not had more than a few minutes to sit and write my blog. I have tried to make time but it seemed impossible. Well I am tired of not writing and I want to get back at it. I love writing and I love creating new dishes. So while this has been a blog all over the place it will remain that but now food will make the majority of posts. I will keep up with some diy projects but mostly food. I have started working for the Farmer's Market for Chef Roy. I am so anxious and excited for this new opportunity. We are at the Urban Harvest Farmers Market in Houston. I am so overly happy to work with a chef and learn the ends and outs of the organic market. I want to experience all the fresh produce. What's even better is the vegan bread. Meat that is organic also. I am so in awe of all the variations I have seen so far. At our both we specifically sale kale. We have this amazing kale salad. We have a poached egg over kale salad with sticks of grilled to perfection toast. I enjoyed this for breakfast today. Let me tell you what it was incredible! I am not a big eggs over easy person so I was not sure how I would feel about the poached egg but OMG it was the best thing ever!! The smooth silky yolk ran over the kale and gave it this extra dressing and the toast dipped in the yolk..Heavenly!! My mouth was very pleased. We also sell a Croquet Mousier but more on that next week since I have not tried it yet. I look forward to reconnecting to everyone who follows my blog and I am ready to show you guys my new experiences.

Houston Zoo Free Day

I love free day at the zoo. If you get there right at 1:45pm you will be ready for the small line at 2pm which is when the doors officially open for free to the public. Some people really complain about there being too large of a crowd but I have never felt cramped by any means and I bring the stroller. Baby J loves the zoo.. not! He hates I don't understand why. He has no interest in any animals unless it's the petting zoo. We have been going since he was a tiny little thing, he would rather push his stroller blindly around the park, causing quite a ruckus. He never takes the easy route always the opposite direction of the traffic flow. Today at the petting zoo there was a goat who was laying in the hay and poor Baby J just didn't want him in there, he tried to pull him twice. Here on some photos from that:

Butterfly Museum

We got to visit the Butterfly Museum and it was so gorgeous. I just purchased a new camera and I wanted to test it out. Unfortunately Baby J ran all over the place and made it less than enjoyable chasing him rather observing the beauties inside. I did catch some great pictures I think though. Have you ever been to this Museum? We go at least once a year. I always try to get the butterflies to land on me but it's only happened once.

Homemade Glitter Peep-Toe

I had seen many diy pairs of glitter heels on Pinterest, so if you think you are the one who started it please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due. Okay! So, for New Years Eve I wanted super sparkly shoes, what girl doesn't? Instead I ended up with a sparkly dress. I found a pair of gold peep toe heels from the thrift store, only nine dollars!! I had previously made a small batch of homemade modge podge. That stuff is amazing. I will post soon how to make that as well. I bought a 12-pack of glitter from wal-mart and previously I had picked up some thicker glitter (read that as not the fine sandy stuff). There is honestly no real measurement. I think I ended up doing about six coats! I let them dry a day in between each coat. I probably could have done less but because I choose such a light pink glitter and iridescent I went a little heavy. If you think you have too much glitter you probably need a little more. I absolutely love the way they came out. The gold under the glitter looks awesome.

Ok so basically you use 4 parts Modge Podge to 1 part glitter. You can choose as many different colors as you want, I think I used 3: gold, pink, and iridescent. Add more glitter as needed same for modge podge, you want kind of a chunky paint so it will stick better. I let them dry for a day or so between each coat. You can probably do it faster but I wanted to make sure I covered all the original on the outside. I could clean up the border a bit but when you are walking not many will notice. They turned out gorgeous! I can not wait to wear them this spring.

Marriage isn't always a sham :)

I know last time I blogged I said I was going to hop back on the wagon but let me tell you, I have been busy!! Life just doesn't slow down for anything or anyone. I have been going to school 5 days a week. That's a lot more than last semester. I am truly loving it. In 3 days my husband and I are celebrating two years of wedded bliss! That's longer than most couples last in Hollywood. It is such a shame what marriage has become in our current times. I mean obviously no one takes their vows seriously anymore. I plan to stand next to my husband through the good, bad, and ugly! It is easy to just give up but it is hard to continue a marriage and be strong for one another. Marriage is not just about love. It's about so much more than that. Sure we have had some trying times but every experience is a learning one and I honestly wouldn't want to share that with any other individual other than my husband! He is my rock. Did you know that in Mexico they have passed a law where after you have been married for two years, your license expires? So you can either renew it or just walk away. How mind boggling is this? If you are unsure of marrying someone then don't do it! Often time young couples let puppy love cloud their judgement, they don't think logically, and they are still growing as a person. This are all aspects one must consider before marriage. OK sorry I am kind of ranting but it really peeves me how our country has let marriage become. I have to go to class but I VOW to you, my readers, I will start blogging at least once a week for the remainder of this year! I have so many viewers still and I appreciate you all! Leave a comment about your views of marriage. Have an awesome weekend!
