Dying Easter Eggs at Home

For little man's birthday I purchased 6 dozen small eggs. I knew I did not want to buy a  dye kit b/c I had so many eggs but I wasn't sure how else I could do it at home. I google'd lots of at home methods and came up with a recipe on my own. The colors came out very vibrant, I thought they were just gorgeous! So what do you think?

First I boiled all the eggs in a large pot, I boiled them for about 35 minutes, I should have gone a little less on that time but I wanted to make sure all 72 were done all the way through.

I boiled 1 1/2 cups of basic vinager and added about a teaspoon of Wilton gel dye, usually used for cake icing. After the dye fully dissolved I added 3 cups of water and poured the mixture into a bowl with a dozen egss. I let the eggs sit approxmatley thirty minutes.

Here is the final product! The color were soo vivid and had this gorgeous marbleing effect. I will never go back to a dye kit.

Headboard Revamp

When I met Hubby he had this headboard.

It was in good condition and we didn't have much when we moved in, so we kept it. Well it's a headboard for a queen and since the move we have upgraded our bed to a king. The headboard did not fit properly with the bed. Plus we don't have a lot of extra space now that we have the larger bed. It's been a year and we finally got it out of our room. It's just so big and bulky but it's a nice structure and I didn't want to just get rid of it so I thought it would make a great bookshelf for my son's room. The shelf is high enough he can't pull everything off, which is awesome if you have a kid!

I used the leftover spray paint from that star project and I even ended up buying two more cans of it. I should have bought one more though to make the finish look really good. So what do you think? I am very happy with.

I plan to paint chalkboard paint in the center later down the line so he will have his own art space. Thanks for stopping by!

Busy busy

I just have not had a minute to write lately. I lost my camera, again! I have been really busy around the house. We got some new furniture and I had to rearrange the whole house just to make it all fit! I am going to look for a new camera this weekend, so I can get some pics up for you guys. I haven't made anything new to really rave about but this weekend I am going to do a grilling outside and smoking a brisket on the pit so I will follow up. We went to the beach last weekend. It was so great! The weather was awesome, my back is so red. It was pretty painful for three days, but aloe is amazing. Keep it in the fridge and it will help any burn or cut. Well have a good weekend I will get back on track next week! Be Safe :)
